This information is derived from the participant's response to the JSS's Work Capacity section. In addition, this is supplemented with Services Australia Income Support Payment data in that all individuals who are in receipt of the Disability Support Pension are automatically identified as having a disability.

In the context of health experience, the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health defines disability as an umbrella term for impairments, activity limitations and participation restrictions. It denotes the negative aspects of the interaction between an individual with a health condition and their contextual factors (environment and personal factors).
