A total count of Small Business Coaching commencements that have occurred in the Self-Employment Assistance program as at the report date, disaggregated by the Australian and New Zealand Standard Industrial Classification (ANZSIC 2006) Industry Division and Industry Subdivision of the business that the Small Business Coaching Agreement relates to.
This is calculated by counting contract referral placement identifiers that have:
- a contract type of 'SEA6' (Self-Employment Assistance),
- a Small Business Coaching commencement flag of '1', indicating their Small Business Coaching Agreement has been signed by both the participant and the provider and has a valid start date,
and either
- a contract referral placement status of 'Commenced' or 'Pending', meaning that the participant has either started service or has been assigned to their provider but not yet attended an appointment with them, or
- a participation exit count of '1', indicating that the participant has exited from Self-Employment Assistance program.

Comments
To access Small Business Coaching, both the participant and their business idea must meet a number of eligibility criteria.
For a participant to be considered eligible:
- They must intend to operate their Business for their Required Hours (35 hours unless otherwise agreed) each week throughout their period of Small Business Coaching
- have had a Business Plan approved by their Provider in the past 12 months.
- be an Australian citizen, or the holder of a permanent visa, or a nominated Visa Holder (including a New Zealand Special Category Visa, Temporary Protection Visa Holder and a Safe Haven Visa)
- not be an undischarged bankrupt
- have not received Small Business Coaching in the past 12 months, and
- agree to enter into a Small Business Coaching Agreement with the Department.
For a business to be considered eligible, it must:
- have been assessed as viable by the Self-Employment Assistance provider,
- be either a new business, or a business which is operated by an Eligible Business Owner,
- have an independent business structure,
- be lawful and capable of withstanding public scrutiny,
- be, or will be, established, located and operated solely within Australia, and
- be, or will be, structured so the participant will have and maintain a controlling interest over the business throughout the duration of their time accessing the Services.
